Bag-making workshops (March 14 & 21)

Make your own bag with textile you made yourself

Local artist Alex is teaching a sewing workshop on Saturday March 14 and March 21 from 13-16 h here at the ABD Centre in Bacup. You will have to join both sessions as the work requires two sessions.

You can choose one of two bag designs to make, for which you will do applique and other textile techniques to create the fabric. This is suitable for total beginners (ages 16 and up)!

The total costs are £40 per person, which includes use of equipment, tools, materials, and refreshments.

You can find updates on this on the Facebook event page HERE. You can contact Alex on Facebook, Instagram, or e-mail: almalauha AT gmail DOT com (e-mail her to book your place on this workshop). Find her recent work on her website HERE.

Alex has many years of experience working with textiles and in the last few years has explored applique and hand stitching to embellish textiles. The biggest piece of work she created this way is a wall hanging (approx. 1.0 m x 1.4 m) for an online art challenge titled Alphabet Superset, which was displayed as part of the Come As You Really Are exhibition by the National Festival of Making at the Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery (in 2025):
