This is a workshop for people in/around Bacup to create a zine together about/for Bacup. A zine is a small, handmade, and self-published booklet or magazine made at a low cost, often using a regular photocopier. This workshop is for adults, and for children age 10 and older (under 16s need to be accompanied by an adult).
Participants of this workshop can explore Bacup's history, current events, ambitions, heritage, and dreams in the works they create whether this is by making sketches, illustrations, paintings, using watercolour, acrylic paint, or collage, digital photography using your own smartphone or your own camera, scrap booking, writing poetry or prose.
This is a fantastic workshop for people to try their hand at something they may not have done before or not in a long time, to meet new people, to learn from others, and to contribute to something they can feel proud of. I will provide lots of ideas in case you need some help to get started, but please feel free to bring your own idea(s)!
All tools and materials will be provided, and there will also be refreshments. This is a FREE workshop.
Just come along, have a snack, and do some crafting and/or writing. Do not worry about your skill level, everyone is welcome!
A digital version will be accessible online for FREE, HERE.
If funding allows, a printed version of the zine will also become freely available (likely in September 2026).
If you can't make it to the sessions but would still like to contribute to the zine, please contact Alex (details below).
